Author Guidelines
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND FORMATTING OPTIONS
The editorial board of the “Bulletin of Mechanical Engineering and Transport” accepts scientific papers in research and technical development.
Submitted materials in the following areas are published in the Bulletin:
- Transport and transportation technologies
- Modern technologies in mechanical engineering, welding and related process and technology, nanotechnology
- Mechatronics. Hydrolic and pneumatic actuators for various technological purposes, vibration and vibration shock machines and technologies
- Reliability and durability of mechanisms and machines, machine parts and metal structure strength of lifting transport machine
- Machinery safe operation
- Development and modern requirements for weapons and military equipment
- Modern equipment and advanced technologies in weapons and military equipment production
- Current issues of psychological support for military personnel
The number of co-authors in one article should not exceed 5 (five) considering that one co-author accounts for at least two pages in the total volume of the paper.
Article manuscript should meet the following requirements.
The article structure.
1. An introduction should be at the beginning of the article, written in a form familiar to a wide range of specialists in the relevant field of science.
The introduction provides:
– setting the problem and its relevance regarding scientific or practical tasks;
– an analysis of the research and publications in which the problem is considered and the author refers to;
– defining the previously unresolved questions;
– setting the objectives of the article.
2. The body of the article presents and thoroughly explains the statements and results obtained.
You shouldn’t use too many formulas nor duplicate results in tables and charts.
It is recommended to avoid long table and drawing names. You should stick to notations and abbreviations used in the article. Terms and unknown notations should be explained.
3. The final part of the article should include an example (if possible) that illustrates obtained results and prospective research. The conclusion should be fully consistent with the content of the article.
4. The article should be divided into titled sections reflecting their content. The volume of the article is 6-10 A4 pages. Manuscripts containing more pages are not accepted by the editorial board.
Article submission guidelines
The following must be submitted to the editorial board:
– an electronic version of manuscript (to be sent to the journal secretary’s email address);
– supporting documents.
The article should be written in compliance with the following requirement:
Ukrainian or English are the languages to be used. The article is written on one side of A4 sheet with all margin of 2cm, using Microsoft Office Word editor, Times New Roman, 11pt, single spacing.
As a sample you can use visnуk_prykl_stat.doc or visnуk_prykl_stat.pdf).
2. The structure of the articl
2.1. The UDC index in Times New Roman, 11 pt, is required in the upper left corner of the manuscript.
2.2. 2.2.1. Authors surnames and initials (in bold, Times New Roman, 14 pt) should be printed from a new line on the right.
2.2.2. Next line is the title of the article (in bold, capital, centered, Times New Roman, 16 pt).
2.2.3. Next line contains the names of institutions where the authors are employed (Times New Roman, 11 pt, centered).
2.2.4. Next line is the beginning of the abstract containing 1800 characters at least (Arial, 9.5 pt, italic, full page width).
2.2.5. A new line titled with “Keywords” should contain a list of key words in Arial, 9.5 pt, full page width).
2.3. 2.3.1. Next line – Introduction (all subtitles in the article in Times New Roman, 11 pt, bold, centered, upper indent 10 pt, bottom – 6 pt).
2.3.2. The following is the body of the article displaying the results of the research (Times New Roman, 11 pt, full page width, single line spacing).
2.3.3. Next part is Conclusion.
2.4. A new line is a List of used literature presented in accordance with the citation style of the Institute of Electrical Engineers and Electronics (IEEE Citation Style) in the form of a list made in reference order (not in alphabetic one).
References are given in square brackets (for example [1], [2] Times New Roman, 9 pt). References to unpublished works are not allowed.
If there are sources in the list of used literature that have been assigned the international digital indicator DOI (Digital Object Identifier), it should be specified. (example: [1] A.A. Larson, “The Reception of Giatian’s Tractatus depenitentiaa and the Relationship between Canon Law and Theology in the Second Half of the Twelfth Century”, Journal of Religious History, no. 37 (4), pp. 457-473, 2013. doi.org/10.1111/1467-9809.12081).

2.5. Information about the author: family name, first name and patronymic (full names, bold, italics), academic degree, academic title, position, full name of institution, city, email address (Times New Roman, 10 pt, on the left)
2.6. in languages (Ukrainian, English) different from the language used in the article all elements of paragraphs 2.2 and 2.5 are given. Abstracts must be at least 1800 characters long.
3. The article should apply the International System of Units (CI).
4. Formulas are typed in the Formula Editor (Equation 3.0 or Math Type) using Latin and Greek letters. Cyrillic letters are not allowed, including indexes. Each formula is typed as one object (full – 11 pt, subscript – 8 pt, sub – subscript/superscript – 6 pt, symbol – 12 pt).
Do not use a formula editor to mark variables in the text except where necessary (for example, a variable with upper and lower indexes).
5. Illustrations are provided in the article without OLE link (each illustration is given as a single object) with single reference.
6. Each table must have a number and a title.
An example of the article draft can be viewed on the journal website.
Submitted manuscripts failing in meeting requirements are not accepted.
Supporting documents
1. Information about author (file avtdov.doc ).
2. Expert committee’s report on the absence of any information in the manuscript prohibited for publication in the open press.
3. For the VNTU employees – excerpt from the minutes of the department of laboratory meeting where the research was presented (protocol #, date) along with a brief description of the article and scientific seminar recommendation (protocol #, date).
4. For authors not employed at VNTU – peer-review of the article signed by a doctor of technical sciences (specialist in the field of science corresponding to the article).
Editorial board can make appropriate changes of the submitted article without author’s consent.
Author royalty is not provided.
The final approval for article publishing is given by the editorial board and Academic Council of VNTU.
Publication terms of payment
Scientists employed at VNTU are not required author fee publication.
Participants from other institutions can publish their articles in accordance with terms of paid services.
On approving journal issue content by the Academic Council of VNTU, the secretary sends out emails with detailed information regarding terms of payment to the authors.
